Day 1 Questions:
1. What does #yolo mean to you and why?
2. What is something that you changed your mind about in the last year and why?
What does #yolo mean to me? Well, I think the best way to define it would be "you only live once." You might ask yourself, now what does that mean exactly? I'd like to think that most use the term as a way to gain confidence before stepping out of their comfort zone. If you are about to do something you're not necessarily comfortable with but somehow find the courage to do it, you say "#yolo".
ReplyDeleteGreat!
Delete#1) Practically speaking "#yolo" means that you only live once. In my own opinion "#yolo" means that not every day is promised. Your last day could be tomorrow and you would never know so do what makes you scared, do what is going to push you out of your comfort zone,do the things you would put off for another day. "#yolo" means to go out into the world and apply yourself fully because you only live once.
ReplyDeleteSomething I changed my mind about this year was, the way I act. Transitioning into college from high school really showed me that I have to change. Not necessarily change, but mature in a sense.
ReplyDeleteMostly, because in college no one is going to do anything for you, and it is up to us, as students to learn for ourselves because that's how the real world is. So, if you ask me what I changed my mind about in the last year, or this year, it would be everything, because the situations I have been in have led me to thinking this way.
#Yolo is an abbreviation for “you only live once”, a phrase that has become popular within the young age group of today. When I see #yolo, or hear someone say #yolo, I think of a situation you can get yourself into that can lead you to choose whether or not you should try something risky or walk away. When someone chooses to take the risk, they can say #yolo. Since you only live once, you might not get the same opportunities later on in the future.
ReplyDeleteYOLO means you only have one life to me. I interpret that in a way of saying you only have the one life, this is your one shot to do what you really want in your life. Highlighting that last part, I think of YOLO as not some joke that a lot of others seem to think that it's what it is, when it's really a statement about how you can't let anything get in the way of what you really want, because this is probably your one chance to get it done.
ReplyDeletesomething I changed my mind about this year was about the people that I used to know. The reason I say this is because, most people don't realized but the reason people just to talk a lot in high school was because we were inside a classroom for a lot of hours and we got used to the environment for the past four years. But once high school ended the true colors came in on how people really are. little advice be careful who you are friends with.
ReplyDeleteIn the last year, I made a decision about something major in my life. My health is now much more important to me now than it was before. I changed my mind about not caring how I treat myself. A healthy dieting and exercising can make a big difference in a person, and is very important for a young adult. Especially a college student, who will definitely need to live a healthy lifestyle in order to succeed academically. It really does make a difference because I now feel a whole lot better than before, both physically and mentally.
ReplyDeleteAubrey Graham, also known by his rapper name, Drake, took the world by storm in his 2011 song, 'The Motto'. He introduced the phrase, 'Yolo' which was quoted in his song as 'you only live once'. Having such an impact on everyone's lives, Drake's new phrase became the Carpe Diem of our generation. Although all of us carry a different outlook on life, my understanding of this phrase is simple; you are given an opportunity as a gift of life to pursue your desires and achieve your aspirations in a small amount of time hence the meaning "you only live once".
ReplyDeleteThey say that challenges in life are what makes a person strong, and I can say that last year has been all about that. From school to parental pressure to succeed, I was stuck between choosing my friends or my future. So when you ask me "What is something that you changed your mind about in the last year and why?" I'll tell you about the time I started prioritizing my future and focusing on what was more important. I changed my mind about the company I surrounded my self around and I lost many of my close friends during that process, but do I regret it? Absolutely not.
ReplyDeleteThroughout my life I have had to make many difficult decisions. Senior year for everyone is a stressful time full of many hard decisions. For the first time in most seniors life they are taken completely out of their comfort zones and forced to choose where they will live and study for at least the next four years. Come May I made the decision to stay here in New Jersey instead of moving to Virginia and going to what I then thought was my "dream school". After sitting down multiple times and weighing out both the pros and the cons, everything about staying local and going to Kean just made sense. I had already had a roomate picked out at Roanoke College and sadly had to break the news to her, and for awhile after I made the decisions I wasn't sure if I had made the correct one. However, now that I have spent time on campus I have fallen in love with both the community and education Kean provides. Its also a pretty big perk that my older sister is here with me.
ReplyDeleteTerrific!
DeleteTo me #yolo means a number of things. To begin with, the most obvious and common meaning "you only live once". This meaning can be interpreted many different ways but to me it simply just means live your life to the fullest because life does not wait for you to do what you want to do. Take advantage of every opportunity you have, don't be hesitant when making decisions, and never regret a decision that you have made. That is what #yolo means to me.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion #yolo can be interpreted in many different ways. When the motto first came to be I feel like many people took it as an opportunity to justify doing impractical things. I guess that is one way to look at it but on the other hand I feel like it truly represents the lack of time we truly have on this earth. Every day could be our last and you should never take too much time for granted. Sometimes there is no reason to overthink insignificant situations, just live in the moment.

ReplyDeleteWhat does #yolo mean? In my opinion I believe that can mean many things to different people depending on their walks of life. The general term "yolo" means that you only live once. So that could mean for some people to take risks and live their lives to the fullest. It could also mean that you only have one chance to do something so take the chance then whether it means they have to take risks to get a job or become in a relationship. Yolo could mean anything and can be taken in differently.
ReplyDelete1) Yolo has always been a motto for our young generation. Most people believe it means to take risks and do things you normally wouldn't. Since you do live only once. I believe that everyone should go out of their way to achieve their goals since tommorow isn't promised. Although, I still believe you should always plan before taking risks, instead of carelessy throwing yourself in a risky situation. Even if its sky diving or skipping a lecture, the term is supposed to create a kind of comfort that it is alright to live your life fearlessly. Living life on the edge as most would say.
ReplyDelete2) One thing I changed my mind about was I needed to start living outside of my comfort zone. I've always been a reserved, family oriented person. I lived majority of my life in a community where everyone knew one another. Same people, similar atitudes and view points. Different people, experiences all help one grow as a person, which cannot be done behind the door, opening to new opportunities is the best way to live life. I don't mean living life uneasy and in a place where you are not comfortable but knowing the limit of my success is based on how I precieve my surroundings and how I apply my skills. Striving to go above and beyond your limits in a way where you know you are where you deserve to be.

ReplyDeleteThe term, "#yolo", is an abbreviation for the saying, "you only live once". It is a term often said by the younger generation and it means to take chances in your life because you only have one life to live and there's no turning back from the present. For me personally this term means that you should take chances in life. Don't spend you live shying away from each new open door becayse you could miss out on an oppotunity that could change your life for the better or make life itself feel a little better. As long as you make smart decisions you should take a new oppotunity when it opens its door to you.You should live your life to create a new story each day that you can look back and reminisce on.

If I could posses one superpower it would most definitely be the power to transport my self anywhere I wanted at the snap of my fingers. I feel like so much time is wasted sitting in a car driving to all of my destinations that could be spent living life to the fullest. Don't get me wrong a good car ride filed with friends and good music is great once in awhile but in general I could do without long drives. It would also be beneficial when it comes to traveling the world, which is something I would love to do one day.
ReplyDeleteWho is a hero in my life? My hero is my Dad because not only is he a hero to me but he can be a hero to anyone because of his line of work. My dad is a Sergeant for the department of Corrections for the state of New Jersey. He is a hero because he goes out of his way to help those around him such as assisting other officers when they come across a dangerous situation or car accidents. Not only does my dad help outside the prison he helps inside to with helping inmates possibly get time off their sentence or making sure the overall prison runs efficiently. Most importantly my dad is my hero because he has always protected me and never stops.- Login Generals
ReplyDeleteWhat could I do right now to achieve ultimate success? My ultimate success is to become successful so what I think I could do now is fully apply myself and focus. In high school I kind of slacked off when it came to applying myself to my work because I did not enjoy what I was doing but now that I have brought my education to a higher level I now enjoy what I am doing. So right now I attempt to work on scheduling out my days fully and following it step by step. By doing these simple tasks now I believe that it will set me up to succeed in the future.
